About

Brent McConnell

hmmm

A self-described “Community Guy”, I have worked in and around open source software and communities since 1997 when I happened upon a copy of Slackware.  I’ve been an avid fan ever since of both of Linux and of the power of communities.  I have a penchant for building things and enjoy playing with new programming languages and technologies, however recently I’ve been more engaged in the people side of technology and helping to bring people together to solve problems.  I am currently a Community Consultant with CollabNet helping developer communities with adoption and reuse on the CollabNet platform.  I’ve also been the Community Manager for the Kablink Open Collaboration platform, and iFolder when I worked at Novell.  Before all this “community stuff” I held positions at Lucent Technologies, Compaq, and HP in various levels of engineering responsibility.

I’m a husband and father of two wonderful children and live in the Boston, MA area.  Outside of technology I find myself often with a guitar or banjo in my hand admiring their form and function and wishing I could play (better anyway).

Anyhoo, this little space on the web is where I share my passion for Collaboration, Community and Open Source.  Oh BTW,  the views expressed here are absolutely my own and do not reflect my employer’s views in any way shape or form.  CMA complete ;-)
